|Edward I. O’Brien III is Chairman of Sophis Investments LLC. Mr. O’Brien has over 36 years financial services industry experience in a variety of roles. Mr. O’Brien began his career at Prudential Bache Securities where he spent 20 years in the Fixed Income division, assuming roles with greater responsibility, eventually becoming Senior Vice President and Director of Government Agency underwriting and trading. Mr. O’Brien then spent 8 years at Keefe, Bruyette and Woods where he was Executive Vice President and a member of the firm’s Management Committee, supervising the firm’s fixed income sales and trading activities. After KBW, Mr. O’Brien joined Guggenheim Securities, where he was Fixed Income Sales Manager. Mr. O’Brien then spent four years at M&R Capital Management, an SEC-registered investment adviser, where he was Senior Vice President and Fixed Income Specialist. Mr. O’Brien is a member of the board of advisors of Alexander Capital L.P., a registered broker-dealer.|
|Vijay S. Malik
|Vijay S. Malik is Co-Founder and Co-Chief Investment Officer of Sophis Investments LLC. Mr. Malik previously served as General Manager of Everest Group LLC, a family office firm in Omaha, NE. Mr. Malik began his career as an associate and assistant to the Chief Operating Officer of World Trade Center owner Silverstein Properties, after which he joined Holliday Fenoglio Fowler LP as an Analyst followed by Tishman Speyer Properties as Associate. During 2012, Mr. Malik joined Check Capital Management, an SEC-registered Investment Adviser, before leaving to manage investment portfolios for himself and his family. Mr. Malik is Director at Holliday Fenoglio Fowler, L.P., a real estate capital intermediary, in Washington, D.C.
Mr. Malik was born in Richmond, Virginia in 1982. He earned an undergraduate degree from Brown University and a law degree from Creighton University.
|Tassos D. Recachinas, CFA
|Tassos D. Recachinas, CFA is President & Co-Chief Investment Officer of Sophis Investments LLC, which he founded in 2008. Mr. Recachinas previously served as an Investment Analyst at Pirate Capital LLC, an activist and event-driven hedge fund sponsor. Mr. Recachinas began his career as an Equity Research Associate at Raymond James & Associates, where he provided institutional equity research coverage on defense and technology securities. Mr. Recachinas served on the Board of Directors of The Allied Defense Group, Inc., a multinational defense company, as well as a member of its Strategic Review Committee and Compensation Committee. Mr. Recachinas has helped advise a variety of companies spanning a broad array of industries, helping to implement operational improvements, cost reductions, restructurings and other strategic alternatives to maximize shareholder value.
Mr. Recachinas was born in Washington D.C. in 1983 and raised in Fairfield, CT. He earned a B.S. summa cum laude, Mechanical Engineering with a concentration in Aerospace Engineering, from The George Washington University in 2005. He was a member of the university’s Honors Program, and spent one year at The University of Oxford, Pembroke College. Mr. Recachinas is a CFA® charterholder.
